How we approach assurance

Safety assurance is not a set of deliverables. It is an engineering program that runs alongside the project — a layer that crosses every discipline and every phase, from concept design through testing, commissioning and entry into service.

We work in whatever form the program needs — embedded in the delivery team, leading the assurance function, or reviewing from outside. Most often we integrate: working alongside senior engineers, directors and stakeholders, and turning Employer’s Requirements and safety standards into something a program can actually run — proven methods that reduce friction and hold to industry practice.

System & Safety Assurance

Governance, assurance planning, compliance verification, and evidence management across the full lifecycle.

What we deliver: 

  • System & Safety Assurance Plans (SSA) and governance model (roles, gates, decision flow) 
  • Assurance planning aligned to delivery milestones (design, integration, testing, commissioning, entry into service) 
  • Compliance verification against applicable safety standards and Employer / project requirements 
  • Evidence management: structure, traceability rules, and readiness for reviews and acceptance 
  • Stakeholder alignment and decision support to drive closure and prevent delay 
  • Safety integration across disciplines and interfaces (Systems, Signalling, Track, Civil, Rolling Stock, Depot/Workshops, O&M).

Hazard Management & Analysis (Hazard Log + Human Factors)

Plug-and-play Hazard Log governance for complex rail programs.

  • Hazard identification and analysis support (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP facilitation, IHA/OHA support, FTA inputs, FMECA integration) 
  • Hazard Log governance: data model, quality rules, ownership, workflow, statistics and status control 
  • Safety requirements definition, allocation, and traceability linked to hazards and mitigations 
  • Integration with designers, suppliers, Testing & Commissioning (T&C) and external stakeholders.

RAMS Engineering

RAMS planning and analyses that support reliable performance and operational readiness.

  • RAM and Safety documentation production aligned with program requirements, standards, and acceptance gates (plans, reports, technical memos) 
  • Safety case and technical safety justifications 
  • Safety analyses and subsystem hazard documentation as required (e.g., IHA, OHA, SSHA) and integration into program governance 
  • Safety FMECA / FMEA and related RAMS & safety analyses, integrated with hazards, mitigations, and assurance evidence 
  • Hazard Log integration: ensuring RAMS/Safety outputs feed hazard causes, mitigations, safety requirements, and closure evidence (traceability and defensibility) 
  • HAZID / HAZOP / hazard workshops support (facilitation, inputs, outputs consolidation) and conversion into actionable requirements and evidence needs 
  • Human Factors studies and report 
  • Reliability/Availability/Maintainability targets definition, allocation, and demonstration strategy (including verification approach and evidence expectations)

Verification & Validation (V&V) and Testing Evidence Support
